The Chilean painter Alfredo Helsby painted this exquisite rendition of a backlit statue in a courtyard, which remains untitled. Helsby’s works combine general lines and characteristic forms of a predetermined model, in this case a city scene surrounded by a garden and a decorative fountain. His palette harmonizes blues and violets and therefore his fascination with the play of natural light as reflected by a rainbow. Most of his inspiration comes from his admiration of the works of Turner.
