A perfect Bronze lost wax casting of an authenticated signed Mathurin Moreau, 19th century French sculptor known as am expert for showing feminine grace, antique fountain of a young madien drawing water from a well with cupped hands as a bird flutters over her head. The water flows from the bough, her mouth and at the base of the well. Mathurin Moreau won many awards for his bronze castings and sent quite a number of bronzes to the Paris Salon’s “La Fee aux flieurs,” in 1861. This exquisite fountain has been recreated by imposters, however, this is an original Moreau.
NOTE: This 19th century bronze French fountain was recently procured from the estate of a Louisiana plantation where it was on view for over 100 years.
This is the first time since its purchase that it has reentered the marketplace for sale.
