Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a range of symptoms associated with a decline in cognitive function, which interferes with daily life and activities. It is caused by damage to brain cells, affecting memory, thinking, reasoning, and the ability to communicate. Dementia is progressive, meaning the symptoms worsen over time.
